Diego’s entire character is centered around a lust for growth and power, diego AU coming in with the world is meant to show how diego would act if he actually got his hands on it. He is MEANT to be a bastardization on everything OG diego stands for, his dialogue is purposefully made to sound more like valentines, hell his stand is meant to show this dude is egotistical to another level, you cannot take out the “dio” from diego. Even just the scene of valentine crying and begging for diego to come save him is another fantastic character moment

alternate universe diego is a tertiary antagonist, he doesn't need any writing. his only reason to exist is to prevent valentine from peacefully accepting death and brighten up the rest of the race to finish with new yet familiar opponent. i don't see a problem with that

You have got to be joking… first of all Valentine & Diego’s conclusions were very well done, what is wrong with some fanservice? Regardless he does know Johnny and his character is exploring another possibility of Diego.. it literally strengthens Diego’s development and character.
