I think they did that so that it wasn’t to easy to go bed mining… it would be to op if u could go bed mining with those since they can stack unlike normal beds

U will never sleep In nether cuz there's no day or night ur not supposed to somehow sleep and even if it exploded it is gonna be useful since the recipe is easy and u can grind ancient debris with it
