Well said brother. 100% agree. This is how we raised our 5 kids and they are leaps ahead of their peers in life. One rebelled and left at age 18. Now he a father of 3 and finally understands his parents and how we set him up for success despite him not liking it.

Amen! We raised 4 boys and their Dad told them, “the longest day you live, you never speak to your mother with disrespect “. Of course they fully understood they would never speak to him that way either. People are afraid their kids will grow up and hate them when the opposite actually happens. We are proud of the respectful men we’ve raised. Kids want boundaries!!

Millennial mom here! Amen, brother. I joke with my kids that I am old school in my parenting. I am not here to be your friend. I am here to raise you to be a decent human being, a contributing member of society, and to love people like Jesus! That is my job!!! we can still have fun. We can go do cool things but you have to earn that privilege and once you break my trust, it’s a long road back. We can be friends when you’re 25 and you have an education, you have a family of your own, but until then, it is my job to set you up for success in this lifetime and Point you to Jesus so that when I’m not there you have someone to run to.
