@tianaheartmama3: I can’t sleep tonight. Tomorrow my son’s life changes forever, and so does mine. I have so many mixed emotions. I’m scared. I’m anxious. I’m heartbroken that this is our reality. But at the same time… I’m happy, because this trach gives my son another chance to breathe safer, grow stronger, and keep fighting. I keep looking through pictures of him, wondering how we got here. Sometimes I catch myself worrying about what people will think when they see my baby with a trach and a GJ tube. Then I remember… their opinions don’t raise my son—I do. One thing that still echoes in my mind is when the doctors asked if continuing treatment was something I wanted to do. That question never needed time to think. Giving up on my son was never an option. Not on day one. Not today. Not ever. I have chosen my son every single time, and I’ll continue choosing him for the rest of my life. Tomorrow I’ll officially become a trach mom and a medically complex mom. It’s not the path I imagined, but it’s the one we’ll walk together. And I promise you this, Sy… I’ll learn everything I need to learn. I’ll advocate for you. I’ll protect you. I’ll love you through every tube, every machine, every surgery, every milestone, and every victory. I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but I know one thing for certain… You’ll never fight alone.
