LS from GM is a simple OHV 8 cylinder engine so its super reliable and cheap to maintain and fix also to modify, about sound lets be honest here the 5.0 dohc that is in the luxes is better in-terms of being stock engine with only headers and intake, tune, BUTTT a cammed LS or LT engine such as the ls3 and the LT1 sounds better then any 4.8, 5.0, 5.5 what ever dohc v8 but then again sound is based on preference, lastly Performance per dollar when it comes to mod LS/LT better when you mod it, an LS/LT engine can produce massive amount of power while being cheap and still have the reliability.
