It’s a book that was fabricated by Joseph Smith shortly after reading a book called “View of the Hebrews” which was written 8 years prior to the BofM and tells an almost identical story. Parts of the BofM are directly plagiarized from this book. Joseph was known to have access to this book since it was a common school reader in his area. Just like Joseph “discovered” the temple ceremony 42 days after receiving an almost identical ceremony when he was made a Mason. Copying and plagiarizing from others was a common theme for Joseph. 😳

Historic? It only dates back to the 1800's. Whats in the book of mormon is by no means historically accurate. Horses, steel, chariots, wheat, silk, huge urban cities, battles bloody enough to clog rivers... these things leave evidence behind that we would expect to see in archeological digs that date back to that time period... so why dont we have any proof that these things happened?

The Book of Mormon is not considered historical by mainstream academia due to the lack of supporting evidence from archaeology, genetics, and linguistics. There is no archaeological evidence for the civilizations, large-scale battles, cities, or artifacts described in the book. Furthermore, genetic evidence shows Native Americans are descended from Asians, not Middle Easterners, and linguistic analysis finds no connection between Native American languages and Hebrew or Egyptian. Please don’t say Haplogroup X or Jewish DNA as that marker is over 30,000 yrs old. The Book of Mormon also contains anachronisms, such as references to horses, steel, chariots, elephants, wheat, etc. that are out of place for the time periods it claims to be set in.
