It’s incredibly hypocritical for the U.S. to demand that every NATO ally spend 5% of GDP on defence when the U.S. itself is still below that level. The 5% target is a shared NATO goal to be reached by 2035 not something the U.S. has already achieved. If Washington expects every ally to meet the same standard, it should lead by example instead of demanding more from others while falling short of the very target it promotes.
