@ibeehemfarms: STONE EGGS ARE A WARNING SIGN EVERY LAYER FARMER SHOULD KNOW Have you ever picked an egg that felt hard but had little or no shell? That is commonly referred to as a "stone egg," and it should never be ignored. Stone eggs are often a sign that something is affecting your flock. Possible causes include: • Infectious Bronchitis (IB) • Egg Drop Syndrome (EDS) • Newcastle disease • Stress • Poor nutrition, especially calcium, phosphorus, or vitamin D deficiency • Damage to the shell gland If you start seeing stone eggs repeatedly, don't focus on the eggs alone—find the root cause before it affects the entire flock. Early detection and prompt action can prevent serious production losses. As a farmer, don't just collect eggs. Examine them. Your birds often communicate through the eggs they produce. Have you ever experienced stone eggs on your farm? What was the cause? A small or ‘stone’ egg alone isn’t evidence of Newcastle disease. Healthy hens can occasionally lay fairy/stone eggs due to reproductive variation. Disease should be diagnosed based on multiple clinical signs, not a single small egg! Thank me later 🤝
