I think sourdough can be delicious AND beautiful! I know this was a lot of information to put into one video, so I split the painting portion of this tutorial into a part 2, coming tomorrow! My Go-To Sourdough Recipe: 500 g bread flour 100 g starter 350 g water 10 g salt 1. Turn out your bread and lightly mist with water to help the flour stick 2. Gently rub in the flour and brush away excess. 3. Use floss or a string to mark the halfway points in both directions 4. Then divide those sections in half and mark again in both directions, making a grid of squares 5. Score rounded triangle shapes in the center of each marked square, alternating direction 6. Make a series of small wheat scores along the marked lines-enclosing each triangle in a square of wheat 7. Use floss to mark where the expansion score is going to go 8. Bake at 470 covered for 9 min 9. Make a deep expansion score where you marked it earlier 10. Bake at 470 covered for another 30 min 11. Uncover and bake another 5-8 min or until golden brown 12. Allow to cool for at least 1 hour before painting to prevent any sogginess. 13. Use whitener to mix with the food coloring to create different shades. 14. Use light brush strokes to fill in each area. Wet your brush before each time to help the brush glide better. It helps to dab it on a paper towel before touching the bread though, to make sure there isn’t too much water! Otherwise it can bleed out on the bread 15. Once dried you can go back over it to create shadows. Then use a thin paintbrush to create detail like strawberries seeds and leaves! If your paint blows out- just use a paper towel to blot it #sourdoughtips #sourdoughforbeginners #sourdoughscoring #sourdough #sourdoughbaking
