Splooting can also be a comfortable stretching position, helping relax the hips and leg muscles after running or playing. It’s especially common in flexible animals such as dogs, cats, squirrels, and frogs. Some breeds and species are more likely to sploot because of their body shape and joint flexibility. Young animals often do it more frequently, as they tend to have greater flexibility than older ones.
