In my high school lit class, they made us do those like parts of speech sentence diagram trees or what the fuck ever and for the life of me I didn’t understand which lines meant which things, but I also struggled with parts of speech so I frankly didn’t understand why we weren’t learning the parts of speech instead of a useless sentence diagram that did not teach me the different parts of speech. It just taught me to memorize a diagram which I didn’t bc I never understood it

I left the ABA field over stuff like this. I kept fighting to advocate for what was actually in my clients best interest instead of what the people around them wanted. Safety, hygiene, and health matter. Compliance for the sake of compliance does not trump autonomy -- especially when the goal is to appear typical. 🙄

exactly why I had to quit. I don't see the point in forcing a child to do something they visibly don't want to do. like we have 8hrs together, we can try again later friend. but here comes the person with a degree telling me to ignore the signs the child is giving me! I blame insurance! also why do they have to pay to have a nap!?
