Pemerintah memperkuat pengawasan program Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) dengan melibatkan pemerintah daerah melalui Surat Edaran Menteri Dalam Negeri Nomor 400.5/8545/SJ tentang Pelaksanaan Inspeksi dan Penilaian Kesesuaian Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) di Daerah. Mendagri Tito Karnavian meminta gubernur, bupati, dan wali kota menugaskan Satuan Tugas MBG untuk memeriksa kelayakan operasional SPPG bersama Badan Gizi Nasional (BGN), berdasarkan 14 indikator yang telah ditetapkan. Pemeriksaan mencakup kelayakan operasional, kualitas, dan menu makanan guna menjaga mutu gizi serta meminimalkan sisa makanan. Selain inspeksi, pemerintah daerah diminta mengevaluasi penerima manfaat, khususnya di wilayah perkotaan, melalui penyebaran angket dengan melibatkan kepala sekolah dan komite sekolah. Hasil pemeriksaan dan evaluasi dilaporkan kepada BGN dengan tembusan kepada Kemendagri, disertai rekomendasi apakah SPPG layak dilanjutkan, perlu perbaikan, atau tidak layak dilanjutkan.
