@jlcosmetics.co: Yeah- we need to talk about this. This video has opened a lot of good discussion around product development! Are CT products incredible? Absolutely! BUT- that doesn’t mean affordable products can’t be the same quality, if not better. Every brand carries different overhead. With a brand like CT, their overhead is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than smaller brands. Having said that, it costs roughly the same to make a product regardless of the size of your company. Actually- most of the time, bigger brands can make products for a cheaper price due to volume discounts with manufacturers. To say that products from other brands can’t give the same experience if factually incorrect. Sure, the branding is different- but the performance can absolutely be the same. I completely understand her frustration, as her brand is one of the most duped brands in the beauty industry. However, consumers are intelligent, and they know the reality of the product quality vs price. Consumers aren’t being “duped” when buying product dupes- they’re well-informed, and making the decision that suits them best! There’s nothing wrong with shopping affordable or luxury- what a consumer decides to spend their money on is up to them. As brand founders, I think it’s important to understand that there’s room for everyone. Charlotte Tilbury needs to stay in her lane. I grew up wearing Avon products knock off products and I don’t care. I still look good and just as good if not better than Charlotte Tilbury herself for her to say that to a consumer is wrong and people have their own opinion of products I get that, but doesn’t mean that higher end products is better.

Expensive doesn’t mean better. Most times you’re just paying for the name on the bottle. They just make people think because of the name it has to be better. So not true. The ordinary is a good example. They don’t pay to have the fanciest packaging and they don’t put a whole lot of money into advertising which keeps their products affordable

I feel like if she’s going to say that she needs to post the receipts. Show me the cost breakdown per SKU. Let me see every cost from packing to raw ingredients, to manufacturing. I wanna see exactly what it costs to deliver a product, her cut, and the shareholder cut. Guarantee you the margin is going to be heavier on the profit side than the production.

Former esthetician and MUA here…Sometimes you’re just paying for expensive packaging. I’ve found equally great products at the drugstore (does the packaging always last.. no. Is the price saving worth a broken lid… yes.) Same with expensive skincare. You won’t find most of those luxury brands ever being used at a Spa for a facial.. because they’re quality isn’t the same as a spa professional brand. It’s just drugstore quality at a higher price point.

expensive definitely does NOT meam better quality. I have had experiences with brand that cost an arm and a leg and they suuuucked then I hop on over to walmart and get a similar product from elf for like $8 and i havent looked back

Couldn’t agree with you more. Like another person said often you were just paying for the name, but the product is the same as a dupe at a lower cost. I’ve often found that drugstore or small business owners have better products than a lot of the high-end. I’m waiting for your lip liners to come back.
