Like Old Times :
James was born in Columbus, Ohio, but has spent nearly his entire life in Connecticut. His love of music began at an early age thanks to his mother, a singer as well, who first introduced him to singing. He went on to study at Roosevelt University in Chicago and sang with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus for two years. Throughout his career, he performed with several opera companies, most notably Delphi Opera in New Canaan, appearing in productions at colleges, churches, and theaters across the region. In the '90s, James created and performed his own concert program and appeared in the cabaret production Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well, a show he especially loved. Music also became a family affair—he loved singing with his daughter, Jessica, when she was young, and the two even performed live shows together. James retired from the Connecticut Department of Labor in 2015 after a distinguished 38-year career, and a decade ago recorded a three-CD collection featuring many of the songs that have defined his lifelong passion for music.
