Starting to think yall think prestige TV is just period costumes and warm lighting. I love Seasons 1&2 a whole damn lot but that’s not all it is. The writing is just as good as it’s always been if not better, they just can’t spend as much on each set because they’re not reusing the same sets all season. Have a little faith and accept that it’s still very much a Gothic Horror Romance, just with a new coat of paint.

I think we miss season one and season two so much because of the love,the care and the soul that we got from Louis and his storytelling and everything how it seemed like a fairytale, and I truly do believe to a certain degree, It was a fairytale, Louis has romanticized a lot of of his life, even his trauma down to even how he portrays lestat. But now that we know “memories are monster” like they stated, do we really like Louis or Lestat version more. This season the storytelling is indicative of who lestat is which is chaotic, passionate ego driven but also in certain sense realistic. he speaks about his life in such a careless , Braggadocious

There are other things at play, but I think part of it is that New Orleans was absolutely a character, as was Paris (to a somewhat lesser extent). Since Lestat is on tour, we aren't getting the setting-as-character vibe like 1 & 2 and the loss is glaring.

The lestat season to me is a little… off I think. I love Louis so much and the first two seasons were so visually stunning and the story was so painful and reminiscent. I want to love the new one but 😭 I’m struggling
