Controversial take: How can you hate Nesta or Elain when Feyre is right there? It was Feyre who controlled the finances and purchases and she was the one who bought Elain the flower seeds. When they finally do get Tamlin’s money Elain immediately says she wants to learn how to grow vegetables. I don’t see enough of Elain on page to love or hate her. With Nesta, she’s the best fully developed character in this series. Hating her serves no purpose other than pushing the narrative that is established by Feyre’s POV. There’s enough on page to show how much Nesta sacrifices for her sisters, but people just want to use Elain as a comparative scapegoat when I think Feyre is the problem.

Everyone talks about how mean Nesta was to Feyre and how Nesta only treated Elain kindly … well Feyre wasn’t exactly nice to Nesta 😅 Nesta loves both of her sister, Feyre went out of her way to exclude Nesta. (Like not including her in the portraits at the river estate).

I agree with you! I don't get why the IC (and the fandom) always hold Elain to a different standard—even though she could have done more in the situations where Nesta gets judged—yet refuse to forgive Nesta. Nesta did everything to help in a war that wasn't even hers—a war that left her shattered—and got nothing in return. On a side note, I dislike Elain precisely because, after everything Nesta went through to protect her, she still didn't stand by the only sister who gave her the time she needed to heal from the war; instead, she just offloaded the problem onto someone else and then got upset when Nesta didn't want to talk to her.

Also it’s mentioned several times that Feyre didn’t cook and didn’t really clean so it’s not like Nesta and Elaine were just sitting around doing nothing, they also contributed to the functioning of their household. While it wasn’t ideal for Nesta and Elaine to not step up to hunt for food and to be stubborn about completing other tasks, we can also recognize that it was really their father’s responsibility to provide for them and that if Feyre hadn’t stepped up their father may have been forced to (which is what Nesta was hoping for). Their actions aren’t as cut and dry as people like to make them seem, and neither are their personalities. From Feyre’s perspective, Nesta comes off as really cold and cruel, but from Nesta’s perspective Feyre comes off as pretty condescending and a bit holier than thou. I love all the sisters but none of them are perfect and they all could have done better and all hurt each other in different ways. It was great to see the sisters start to mend their relationships towards the end of the last book, and I really hope we see more of that in the coming books!

My hot take is that you are all quite annoying and there is no reason to “hate” any of the Archeron sisters. They all have their own faults, but both Feyre and Nesta have beautiful healing journeys and growth and I have no doubt when Elain’s book is written, she will too. I’m not sure why this fandom has decided all the sisters need pitted against each other and to love one, you have to hate another. There were times I didn’t agree with any of their actions, but I understood them all to a degree.

Cassian defended Nesta to Rhysand multiple times, even telling him to back off. But also, no, Elain couldn’t have grown vegetables because the soil was frozen in the middle of winter, but also in ACOTAR she mentions wanting to start a vegetable garden (after they have money again) and that she needs to learn the ways. It’s different than just planting flowers.

Nesta continued to be cruel to everyone, whereas Elain worked to build back the bridge she had burnt with Feyre. Elain even owned up to their failures as sisters and said she wanted to be better moving forward. Elain also was the one who pushed for their house to be used to meet the human queens, asked to be glamoured so she could convince Greyson and his father to shelter humans, and tried to be there for Nesta on multiple occasions, and Nesta admittedly pushed her away time and time again.

I don’t know, why are we parentifying older siblings who were also children at the time? It was Papa Archeron’s responsibility to take care of his children, not Nesta, not Elain, and not Feyre. Nesta basically ran the household, which was naturally her place after her mother died. I honestly have no idea what Elain did, I’m wondering if she actually did grow vegetables, it wasn’t the first time Feyre gave false information. Then Feyre filled in the gap and decided to go into the woods and hunt. I really don’t understand all the hate, it makes no sense except that Feyre told us to be mad about it.
