Listen, making these movies is probably the most fun we’ve ever had. This glimpse at rehearsal - gives you a little peek behind the smoke and mirrors and a little sense of what being on set is really like. It is a team sport. And every member of this team played in a role in making our audience *feel* something (both GOOD feelings and SAD feelings). So arguably it really is THEIR fault. Also had a lot of questions when we posted this over on insta - there are a lot of people in the room, yes yes yes. What you see here is called “crew rehearsal”. At this point @charlottefassler and I would have already had a directors’ rehearsal with just the cast, our cinematographer and our script supervisor. And probably our producer Erica. Then this crew rehearsal opens the room up to everyone to watch the blocking and play by play for how the scene unfolds. It gives everyone - boom operators, gaffer, costume, hair and make up, and more!! - the chance to anticipate what they might need to tweak or watch out for during and between takes. When we’re ready to roll, everyone makes their final adjustments and then most of this group will leave this set and tuck away to various different monitors to watch or ‘stations’ in the surrounding rooms or hallways while we roll on the action. Inside the room during the actual take it is usually just the camera operators, boom operators, 1st AD, and cast. (And sometimes Charlotte and I will hide behind the furniture with a mini monitor so we can move quickly or chime in in live time) @asha banks @mattbroome3 @Joel Nankervis @SCAR @enva #yourfault
