I had my birth plan all planned and knew what I wanted to do from the git go since this was baby 3, and wanted a birth like my other 2. A non medicated, no epidural, natural birth like I had with the other 2. Well things took a turn when I went to my Dr apt on Tues Sept 16th. My blood pressure started becoming elevated at 36 weeks and going into my appointment at 39w2d it was still elevated and just had a terrible migraine that entire morning. Dr came in an said I wasn't leaving and I am going to get induced. Good thing I had my bags packed and in the car. So I Started getting induced slowly Tuesday evening around 7pm. They ended up inserting a balloon to dilate me, which omg so painful! Wednesday around 6am they broke my water and started pitocin. I walked around, rolled on the exercise ball, did different positions on the bed, Contractions werent unbearable I was actually sleeping through majority of them. 3pm rolled around, my dr recommended I get an epidural because my body was tense and needed to relax because I was stuck at 5cm for approximately 8 hours at this point. So even though the epidural was always a HUGE NO for me I ended up proceeding with it AND it was the WORST! They couldnt get it in and ended up hitting a spot where I was NOT numb. 20 minutes later..they finally got it. At 4pm I was still at 5cm, so again I got in a position where I was leaning on the back of the bed on my knees with my legs spread. I start feeling this sharp like pressure on the right side of my abdomen down my groin. They said sometimes the epirdural misses spots. After dealing with the pain for about 10 minutes straight the nurse comes in with the dr and they said I had a constant contraction for over 5 minutes due to the pitocin and that babies heartrate has dropped into the 80s. Dr tried to put a fetal scalp electrode on babies head to get a more accurate reading but got nothing. Dr then said it... I needed an emergency C Section because the babys heartrate was now in the 50s. At this time is was around 510-515pm,15 nurses and Dr's rushed in and started unhooking all my monitors and rushed me back to the OR for an emergency C Section. I have never been more scared in my life. I was crying and didnt know what to think besides please let my baby be ok. They told my husband to stay in the room until they gave him the ok, so I was alone, and he was alone, which made me sad for him as well, but the nurses were so great with talking to me and reassuring me everything was going to be ok. So many things were happening back in the OR the anesthesiologist, the moving me from beds, the hooking me up to monitors, the surgery prepping. Every nurse was doing something so quickly. The Dr was then given the clear to proceed with the C Section but my husband was still not in with me. So im still laying there just crying and praying. Finally Mike walks around the drape and within 1 min at 5:22pm, but felt like forever, baby was out and we heard that first soft little cry. I told my hubby to go be with the baby because as long as I heard hear crying I knew she was ok. We found out that my placenta was separating from the uterus, also known as placenta abruption, which can be fatal to baby. This also explains the sharp pains I was feeling on my right side and babies heartrate dropping so fast. Recovery has been day by day. Which the Doctors told me with emergency C Section it would be since they had to go so quickly. Some days I will feel good, the next I can hardly move. Now I get to wear a C Section scar as a Mark Of Love, even though it was a scary traumatic experience. Our baby girl is healthy and she really is a blessing 🩷 #blessed #csectionmom #pregnancy #baby #momof3
