All that "convenience" when anyone that wants steam already has a PC and went through the setup experience. Selling to those who don't have a PC already AND have the money to front is really goofy.

It's not even $500 going to Valve, it's probably less than $100. Custom boards cost a lot of money, and so does designing something that small. They've also got to pay for it to be built and tested.

It’s easy. You do not have to build a Steam machine. Just buy a windows machine and install Steam os. If it ain’t have AMD components install Bazzite

I have ps xbox and steam deck. Something like the steam machine is great for me because I don’t care about building it. Love that it just works :)

I mean I would assume there are other upsides on having a purpose built steam machine. Like long term support and guaranteed compatibility for the parts. I get making one of these machines isn’t rocket science, but I am astonished on the amount of issues and bonehead build decisions people make on their own. However I am bit skewed cause I have building PCs since I was six have a few decades of xp working with them.

it's. not supposed to be a PC it's a console . just because it plays pc games do not compare it to a PC .a giant PC that is bulky to move .
