Private practise is so much better than academia for me. I’ve been doing it for 10 years and flexibility is amazing. My friends in academia have more prestige but are also burning out. I think the key to satisfaction in medicine is having the fewest number of factors between you and the work.

I think it’s super smart to still want to sit cases, the anesthesiologists that I worked with were so happy when they starting sitting cases. They felt like it was a nice break and it was nice for us too because they understood better the things we really needed help with. Some of them hadn’t sat cases in over 15 years.
