Reminds me of when I was reading about Shipton’s Arch, located in China’s Uygur region, which was named after an English mountaineer who “discovered it”. In his own book he describes seeing it from the distance, but made several unsuccessful attempts to reach it due to the maze like canyons of the area. Fortunately his party discovered a path from the opposite side.. thanks to the help of some local guides showing them the way
