A little fun fact about this road. That prison that you saw on the way down, inmates from that prison (now known as Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility, but was the State Penitentiary at the time) built Skyline Drive in the early 1900s and also paved it in the 1960s. There used to be a little candy shop at the top of the road right before the decent back into town, and the stone archway that you drove through at the entrance has a stone from each state sent by their respective governors at the time it was built! Stop by the Museum of Colorado Prisons, it’s housed in the old women’s prison right next to the active facility to learn some more cool facts about canon and the prisons!

We had so much fun driving this! I had White Knuckles on the dashboard while my husband was driving the way I needed him to drive because I thought we would die at every turn. I am glad you made it LOL😂
