I think if anyone is going to be rich, it should be the doctor caring for me.

Im a physician and I own and operate a hospitalist group, it’s the best way to run a successful, lean model that focuses on physician’s needs and success

we’re seeing an uptick in physician-owned hospital groups and FOR THE FIST TIME EVER, the power is the hands of the physicians. the models are lean and the focus is on what the physicians need to be successful and to keep their patients healthy.

I’m in private practice for the last 4 years. It’s been a challenge setting up practice with all of the minutiae but I’m the one who makes the decisions. Every time I get a recruitment email from the local hospital group it makes me laugh hysterically. Even with the struggles of setting up solo practice I would never go back to being someone else’s cash cow and being treated like trash.

Physician independence sounds good, especially if it gives clinicians more control and patients lower costs. But let’s be careful…healthcare should not just move from hospital corporations to ASC corporations. The priority still has to be patient safety, proper selection, and clinician led care, not just another revenue model.🥰

ASCs don’t have ICUs, specialists in the building, floors. This hyper fragmentation is bad for the patient even if it means more profit for surgeons

Everything is weird 👀 :
I’m a scrub tech. The surgeons are doing most of their cases at surgery centers and doing the revisions and patients with comorbidities at the hospital. The sicker patients still need the hospital.

As a resident now I can promise you I am hell bent on owning my own practice - through whatever price/pay model makes that affordable. Even if it’s direct to consumer & bar insurance entirely

Yes let's just worry about who (Corporations or Doc owned LLC's) gets paid billions while we just lose everything if we get sick. #nosympathy.

My sister works for an HSA ASC in Florida..they are laying off 30% of staff due to a huge uptick in ambulatory surgery denials from private health insurance companies.
