His son, John Madeley Jr., is also accused of involvement. Madeley Sr., 55, a recently retired Toronto Police officer, is charged with breach of trust, unauthorized use of a computer, firearms offences, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. He also previously faced charges linked to an alleged illegal online gambling operation. Madeley Jr., 29, who joined the Toronto Police Service in 2022, is charged with breach of trust and unauthorized use of a computer. He has been suspended without pay and remains out of custody. The wider Project South investigation also involves several other accused, including former officer Timothy Barnhardt and alleged organized crime members.
