I am currently living exactly this approach. At 18 my daughter eloped and married someone we weren’t high on but we respected her agency. She is getting a divorce after two years. She said she doesn’t regret it because she learned a lot.

Risk your child happiness for ego ? Because I think that is what we are talking about. What will happen if that goes all wrong? Give advice snd let them make their choices. Give blessings and wherever is blessed good comes only. If you really love your child.

Oh my God! “Against my will.” People have some interesting phrases. Guess what? my husband married me against his parents wishes. Four children and 27 years of marriage. They shot themselves in the foot. I would’ve been an amazing daughter-in-law. But they missed the opportunity.
