Shield is for more grounded focus and is more defensive while the spear is a hybrid and has shorter parry windows but the dashes are a parry in there own I find myself so far using them in all combat situations so far

I think the spear is good for the massive battles but for the bosses the shield is the best

Bro I got so spoiled by the Meat hook so bad it was almost impossible to go back to. Especially needing switch back and forth to it with the Astral boss😭😭

Shields for defensive situations like focusing on a harder enemy in fights but the spears for all out combat and offense is what I noticed
