I think its a curse the Watchman gave the Surebrecs. Like, it's some sort of power that builds up of sorts over time. It's also why Alto was the way he was after Rudo was born because he wasn't needed anymore or something. Idk, but mythology is a huge thing that inspired Gachiakuta, so stuff like that is definitely possible.

I think at this point in the show (n especially if ur caught up in yhr manga) everything is pointing at his dad being the watchman entity and he js had the curse bestowed on him when he was born and that’s why he has those marks. Another theory could be that the watch man is his dad blah blah but he’s aging normally he js is in that different form and once he dies Rico becomes the next watchman
