Yes but so does everyone else. 👉 The issue: When your essay sounds like every other application, it becomes easy to overlook. ❌ Too basic ❌ No strong personal story ❌ No clear why YOU 👉 What GKS is really looking for: Your story, not a general statement The experiences that shaped your goals A clear reason Korea fits into your future 💡 Think about it this way: If someone removes your name from the essay, will it still feel like you? If the answer is no, then it needs more depth. 2: Goals that are too broad “I want to study international relations. I’m interested in public health. That’s a starting point but not a strong answer. 👉 What’s missing: What area exactly? What problem do you care about? What impact do you want to make? Why is Korea the right place for this path? ❌ Broad goals make your application feel unfocused 👉 What strong applicants do differently: They connect their goals to a purpose. I want to focus on ___ because I’ve seen ___, and I plan to use it to ___ after graduation. 👉 That shows vision. That shows direction. 💡 Remember: The clearer your goals, the stronger and more convincing your application becomes. 3: No clear story in your application I did this… then this and now I want to study in Korea. 👉 On the surface, it’s fine but it feels disconnected. 👉 The issue: Your experiences don’t link together. ❌ Just listing achievements ❌ No clear progression ❌ No explanation of how you got here 👉 What GKS wants to see: A journey that makes sense. What sparked your interest? How did you develop it over time? Where is it leading you next? 👉 Stronger approach: Show the connection. “After experiencing ___, I became interested in ___. I then pursued ___, which is why I now want to study ___ in Korea.” 👉 That shows growth. That shows purpose. 💡 Remember: Your application isn’t a list it’s a story.
