Mist of Gen X were financially exploited by there parents who made them get jobs at 10 so they could purchase there own school clothes and supplies. Gen x has never been supported by their parents and are now expected to care for them in their old age while still raising or caring for their own children

I don't know a single Gen Xer who has ever had any financial help from family. Most of us were kicked out before we even graduated highschool. I am now taking care of my mother in my own home so she isn't homeless.

My parents wouldn’t fill out the fafsa and made me leave home immediately upon high school graduation (but colleges still expect parents to support you until you’re 25) so I had to work two jobs just to go to college part time.

I stopped getting an allowance at 12. If I didn’t find a babysitting job or cleaning someone’s house that meant no new clothes, no school supplies, no makeup, nothing. They fed me and allowed me to live there (which is something I know) but I had to cook, clean, do laundry etc to earn those privileges. And I feel sure my story is pretty common among my fellow gen xers.
