You can't and shouldn't think everything through stringently and coherently before you're allowed to give reasons for your actions or judgments. We can't all be Kantians, giving ourselves, by virtue of our own autonomy, a law that everyone would have to accept as universally binding. We live discursive, dialectical lives; we don't fight out every position explicitly, with all the right terminology. Our horizon of meaning reaches only to the edge of our own filter bubble: some draw it wide, others narrow. That's not proof of some lack of intellect; it's probably a vital survival instinct for self-preservation. So not a malicious or incompetent stance, per se.

I think morality comes from FEELING. We intellectualise morality, and create these systems and perform as we get older, but true morality is a FEELING of oneness, compassion and being drawn to righteousness.

Most people don't have the time or energy to research these topics deeply, contrast perpectives, consider both sides of debates. They have enough going on in their lives that, and need to spend time learning the things that actually help them navigate it.

Hold awn morality is not something that’s supposed to be rationally consistent every time. There’s a reason ethics is not a science. While i agree with you that the parroting is a problem, i’m not sure it has everything to do with how well ‘thought out’ their ethics are. I truly think some people just either develop or have a strong moral character and some people benefit from some guidance. Like someone else said, feeling plays a super important role. Principalizing and rationalizing them is important, but with nuance. The problem is that the internet is a super confusing guide that sends you all over the place morally.

That reminds me of the time I learnt that most people do not use words in their internal thinking. Rational structure is not the norm. I came to the same conclusion : debate is sterile 99% of the time.

For Émile Durkheim, morality is, above all, a social fact: it exists outside the individual and weighs on them through norms, approval, shame, and punishment. Pierre Bourdieu expresses a similar idea through "habitus": many judgments seem to us to be personal taste or natural common sense, although they are nurtured by the environment and experience of one's position in society. There is almost no such thing as an unborrowed morality. We all learn words, values, examples, and prohibitions from others. A more mature morality is not necessarily gentle or comfortable. And it begins where a person dares to question and take responsibility for their views and principles.Nowadays no one wants to take responsibility...Totally agree.
