I swear it's the "curtains are just blue" argument all over again. Even if you can argue that the author didn't consciously mean anything by ot, you still have to ask - what subconscious biases, feelings or convictions made the author chose blue and not a different color.

art is always political, because the freedom to present things as apolitical is STILL a political privilege, and therefore presents the artist or audience conveying the work to be apolitical as someone unaffected by or in support of the current political status quo.

Many comments going "not all art is political" Here's the thing. Art is an idealized conveyed representation of reality. All art has some grounding in reality. Yes even the upcoming Paw Patrol dinosaur movie. The reason is politics affects each of us. Many people feel that a political films needs to be about war, politicians, laws, police, something where there is a someone in D.C. arguing a speech. Politics today are very ideological (by today I mean since the Elightenment period) Ideology refers to the specific ideals with which a society holds itself to. Notice earlier how I said art is "idealized" What this means is no matter what a art is going to display an ideal regardless is going to be displayed. Its like playing chess, every move you make, every pawn and knight slid by you. That is strategic, you are playing a strategy game. No matter how much thought you put in you are committing to a strategy. How much thinking you put in is up to you. This is why there is good strategy and bad strategy in chess. There is good ideals in art and bad ideals in art. This being said every ideal is reflective in our society and reflective of our values as a society. These values are political. Political doesn't always mean government. It can also mean ideology. Hence our word "ideal" comes back. This is why whenever art is depicted it is a display of values i.e. a display of ideals henceforth all art is political.
