Sometimes it starts because they just want to feel comfortable in their own skin again and this leg sleeve is a perfect example of that. My client has skin that’s very susceptible to bruising, and over the years it became an area she felt the need to hide. Instead of seeing confidence when she looked down, she saw something that made her feel self conscious. As tattoo artists, we’re not just creating art….we’re listening to people’s stories, understanding their goals, and designing pieces that work with the body, not against it. A thoughtfully designed sleeve can change the way someone feels when they wear shorts or just simply catch their reflection in the mirror. While tattoos aren’t a solution for body image struggles, they can help people reclaim a part of themselves and express who they are in a way that feels meaningful. That’s why I believe tattooing is one of the most personal art forms there is.
