My rule as a DM is if you can make the bonkers shenanigans you want to do make any semblance of sense then I’ll let you try it. Most of my campaign is me going “that sounds absolutely insane it’s never gonna work but go for it. Oh it worked…give me 5 minutes figure out the mechanics of that” 😂’yes and’ over ‘um actually’ any day.

bbeg broke my sword right before my turn. broken part fell to the ground, somewhat stabbing into the dirt with its tip. on my turn, i got on the other side of the bbeg opposite of the sword, held the hilt at an angle towards the broken tip, and cast mending. sword tip came back through the bbeg's back to strike his heart and reassemble. dm decided that was the killing blow. 💅🏼

me when one of my players wanted their character to date the prince of the kingdom they were in, one of them wanted to romance the joke npc, and the other wanted to have a slowburn enemies to lovers arc with his nemesis and I was like Absolutely, will will tell Beautiful Love Stories for Each of these

I do something called Luck Points that allows for Rule of Cool moments. Players get 4 points they can spend on making any roll a crit for themselves or someone else. Folks earn points back via level ups and being creative
