@drpaulmaloof: One of the most common questions I get after bunion and hammertoe surgery is: “Does getting the pins removed hurt?” For most patients, the answer is: it’s much easier than they expected. These temporary pins help keep your toes in the correct position while they heal. Once the bone has done its job, it’s time for the pins to come out. The removal itself usually takes just a few moments in the office, and many patients are surprised by how quick it is. Most describe it as pressure more than pain.
