I don’t even recognize myself some days… in the best way possible. Not because my body looks different, but because of how I move through my life now. It’s not just change. It’s growth. A year ago, at the same weight I am today, I would never have walked around in public with my loose skin showing. Seven months ago, I was physically shaking while filming a reel showing my loose skin on my arms for less than a minute in public. And now I’m walking along the busiest beach I’ve ever been to, with my loose skin completely visible. Yes, some of my loose skin has been removed and that absolutely helps. But that’s not the whole story. This platform did something to me. You did something to me. Sharing my health journey publicly was the most vulnerable thing I’ve ever done. I risked judgment, rejection, being misunderstood and the loss of my comfort zone. But in choosing to be seen, I also chose accountability. I don’t take this opportunity lightly. I feel the weight of it every day, in a good way. Because now, I feel called to keep showing up as a version of myself I’m deeply proud of. Brave.
Vulnerable.
Confident.
Resilient.
Strong. Not because I always feel fearless, but because this is who I want to be. And knowing that my life can impact yours gives me the courage to follow through. I’m learning to be brave for myself first… and I stay brave because I hope it encourages you to do the same. I want to be the person I once needed to see. So that’s what I’m trying to become. That’s why I wore a bathing suit in public for the first time since childhood, after years of rash guards and swim pants. This was the first time my thighs have felt the sun in decades. Me sharing online. Me wearing a swimsuit in public. It’s never been about showing off. It’s always been about showing up, even when it’s uncomfortable. Actually, especially when it’s uncomfortable. The fear hasn’t disappeared… I’ve simply learned that acting with fear is what changes me in the most beautiful ways. I hope you find (or rather choose to have) the courage to do the same. 💜
