if you’re close to Trier and Saarbrücken, take Echternach as well, its at the border with Germany right in Luxembourg. cute little town with some museums and a park. Gorgeous location been there 10+ times

Trier is incredible, Bacharach is amazing and walking through a vineyard and having a glass of wine looking over the town of St Goar from a ruined castle looking down at the Rhine river after taking a cruise was a bucket list item. unfortunately I passed cochem on the way to Trier so I missed it but it looked lovely from the train.
