Last night I was called to a family’s home here in Wilmington, North Carolina, where I also live. The mother told me they moved into the house in 2014, and the home was said to have been built in the 1990s. After moving in, she began having recurring nightmares of a shadowy, evil looking face coming toward her and trying to frighten her. It became so disturbing that she reached out to a local shaman for help. The shaman believed something horrible may have taken place inside the home, but even after trying to help, the activity continued. The family has witnessed what looks like a Hat Man shadow, as well as a dark cloaked figure. They’ve also experienced the unsettling feeling of being watched. The young daughter has been especially frightened by the presence upstairs and has seen the shadowy figure when no one else was around. One evening, their TV suddenly turned on by itself to a specific part of Ghost Hunters where they said they heard a ghost say, “It wants us to leave.” The first day I spoke with the mother about coming to investigate, she also told me that later that night the power went out twice and the LED lights suddenly turned on in her daughter’s room. I’m not saying this was definitively paranormal, but considering several recent cases where strange things happened after I spoke with homeowners about coming, it definitely made me wonder if something didn’t want me there. When I arrived, I started with my intuitive walkthrough. Almost immediately, I began picking up on what I believed could be something dark inside the home. I was drawn down the downstairs hallway and into a room where I felt some type of occult activity may have taken place and something was possibly invited in. I then realized I was standing in the daughter’s room and was told she had become the main target. The mother told me her daughter hasn’t slept in that bedroom for the last eight months because of what she has felt and experienced there. I also felt both the mother and daughter may be sensitive to the spirit realm, and whatever was there could be taking advantage of that sensitivity to create an oppressive psychological state. Upstairs, when I religiously provoked what I believed to be this dark presence, the light in the room immediately flickered. There was also another room upstairs where I felt the same energy I experienced in the daughter’s room, along with another impression that some type of occult activity may have taken place. During the investigation, I captured what I believe are consistent EVP references to “the Hat Man,” along with a barrage of threats directed toward me and references to the daughter being the target. I also captured what sounded to me like references to a ritual and a Ouija board, suggesting something may have been invited into the home. I also felt there were earthbound spirits lingering there that were separate from the darker presence. I felt they were drawn toward the mother because of her sensitivity, wanting to be heard and acknowledged. Toward the end of the investigation, I prayed for these spirits. Directly after the prayer, I received what I believe to be clear voices saying: “I see the light.” “I’m going up.” “God bless you, Sean.” I later learned that someone who previously lived in the house reportedly struggled with serious issues and was in and out of treatment, and that the home was allegedly associated with drug activity at one point. I don’t know if whatever may have been invited into this home happened during that time or sometime before. Based on what I personally experienced and captured during this investigation, I believe there may be an inhuman demonic infestation inside this home. I will be returning to perform an exorcism ritual on the house to revoke any permission I believe this presence may have been given and prevent it from attempting to take its malicious intentions toward the daughter any further.
