In Angola we speak Portuguese and we also say that. It’s either the “homem do saco” (man of the bag) will kidnap you or we choose the “scariest looking” person around so if there’s a big man with a scar on his face we will say “that big uncle with the scar will take you/hit you” 😭😭😭 you NEVER wanna be chosen

Oh yeah, we even have a scary story about "El ropavejero". An old man carrying a big bag who will come get badly behaved kids. It used to scare me so much when I was little!

oh yes absolutly, I'm brazilian and I had that done to me when I was a kid, our version of the boogeyman is the velho do saco (the old man with the bag) he allegedly takes children who misbehave, puts them on a large bag and takes them somewhere we dare not ask about. And recently a little girl was throwing a fit in the supermarket and her mom looked at me and said "if you don't stop that man is going to take you away". I looked at the little girl and told her dead serious I already had two in my car's trunk. all the drama left her little body imediatly.
