My dance teacher always said that you can never tell which is the best dancer within a group unless it is time for them to have their own moment. The best quality a dancer can have is the ability to blend in. Being the best dancer needs nothing if you’re actively making the rest of the group look bad by purposefully sticking out.

The problem with katsaye is that everyone has an ego big as a Miami villa. Usually when you see successful groups you don’t see ego, and that’s why I always said that they are not gonna last as a whole that much. People don’t get it tho

Lisa from Blackpink is the main dancer but she still manages to sync well and dance at the pace of her group members. She's the perfect example of how dancing should be done in a K-pop scenario in my opinion

EXACTLY, she is a main dancer but so are many other idols, main dancer does not mean you are supposed to outshine the group. Like example, Momo is main dancer but she does not outshine any member in Twice while they perform together. Dani is an AMAZING dancer but she dances like a soloist

The funny thing is Daniela never used to “over dance” in group performances till after Gnarly era when she gained some kinda traction for the first time. If you study their first ever Gnarly performance and all their performances before, she never used to do that

Son thought BTS, Hobi & Jimin are the main dancers, & not once do they over power the other 5, it’s very cohesive even when Joon & Jin didn’t have that much experience in dance.

Also, it is unprofessional to change the steps literally. If the choreographer and other members are turning 30 degrees, you shouldn’t turn 90. If they kick at hip level, you shouldn’t kick at shoulder level. Doing so essentially means you're dancing to a different choreography. The goal is to attract people's attention through smoothness and charisma, not by being the only one performing a different routine and disrupting the overall group performance

Even in cheer dance you have to dance the same as the other members because if you over do it the coach will shout at you 😭
