He's the blood of the Dragon, a Prince, grandson of a king, brother to a king and father of two kings. The knight tittle is below that. But yeah he was knighted at 16 by the Consiliator himself, and there is when he was given Dark Sister, Visenya's legendary valyrian steel sword.

I assume like in KoTSK when Prince Baelor says ‘because he is a Prince of the realm, not just some hedge knight’. Princes are above knights and second only to the king in terms of level. I suspect Lords are also above knights too given they have their own land and rule of people.

my man!! he was knighted at 16!! by king jaehaerys himself. how do people think that he got dark sister from? it's not just a sword that is passed for just being a targaryan. only a targaryan knight can have it. same with blackfire. and he is a prince. no he is the prince. not a Meer ser.

Knighthood is a Andal custom and tied to the Faith of 7. Neither Firstman, Dorne nor Targaryen are called Ser when being knight, and rarely tied to the Faith of 7, Firstman and Dorne iirc dont even have knights. Targaryen might be an exception with special rules who have knights as they are constantly around Andals and Royal family but Ser is too below their status so are never called a Ser. I wouldnt be surprised if Targaryens dont need to kneel to get knighted by some rando, they just get knightship by the King their family.
