@fat.chief: The Navy has released NAVADMIN 162/26, updating policy for medical facial hair (shaving) waivers. In this video I cover: • Who this policy applies to • Who approves medical shaving waivers • The new 90-day treatment timeline • The 12-month treatment limit • Administrative separation guidance • New command tracking requirements • PCS requirements for Sailors with approved waivers • Why this does not apply to religious accommodations As always, don’t rely solely on social media summaries. Read the NAVADMIN yourself and discuss any questions with your chain of command or your medical provider. Has the navy ever gone on record as to WHY they don’t want to allow beards?

I just don’t understand how a medical condition can cause you to be ADMIN separated Vs medically separated

Unless the CO is a medical officer what sense does that make ? And it’s more waiting on signatures / questions

how does this not violate HIPPA? I'm at a training command and the CO oversees thousands of personnel.

I dont understand how a medical provider is saying that you medically can't shave but a CO can say nah I don't believe it or how its an administration sep for medical reasons

Currently going through the process of the shaving waiver treatment they have a multiple step process for treating irritation once all the “in house” treatments are deemed not effective you move on to getting a referral for laser hair removal as last treatment option during the referral if you are deemed to be able to do the procedure then you have choice of following through with it or denying if you deny it then they follow through with admin sep but if you have certain conditions where laser hair removal won’t work then you actually get to continue having the shaving accommodation and when it comes to laser hair removal they will only treat the affected area not your whole face unless is affected

Wonder how this will affect the recruitment process. Will new recruits be informed that they can be separated if they have these conditions?
