As an educator, if he is on grade level with all things, invest in camps. The social emotional growth is important as well. This will help him feel confident academically too. 🥰 You do such a great job, mom. Love your content.

That’s interesting.. our district doesn’t recommend that unless they need extended year services.

If anything, maybe ask for more! Our ESY is 1/2 school and 1/2 camp. Classes in the am and swimming and things like that in the pm. Maybe your program is different.

I live your videos. my child is 7 and not hard of hearing but has had an iep and was in early intervention. we do his esy only because its included and he gets all of his therapies and he interacts with kids. but camps are amazing too if hes willing and wants do it

I wonder if they recommend all the kiddos go because of funding. Not a reason to send him if it’s not in his best interest and there is better opportunities for him outside summer school. Just curious is all.

My daughter lost her hearing in her left ear sometime between kindergarten and and first grade. We are new to this but opted in to summer school this year. Seeing the statistics for hearing impaired children being retained in their grades made me feel like it was the right choice.

My kid is delayed and has a hard time with remembering things due to seizures. We did 2 years of summer school it didn’t help with the next year. They still forget. But working on things with him like you do I think you’re ok.

Hours are too short. Ours is 5 hours. Lunch and transitions and bathroom take up a lot of time

My kids are not deaf or hard of hearing but my son is autistic/adhd/ globally developmentally delayed, daughter adhd and youngest daughter is delayed. I send them to summer school program every year since pre-k 3yr old. Theirs is 4 hr/day 4days/week for 6 weeks. So they end up with 1 math and 1week of no schooling in the summer. They still get to enjoy summer time. While also staying in the structure and routine of school. It helps them a lot especially with being behind in school. I personally think it’s better than a camp. Even with me working on things with them the summer school definitely helps more.
