first tattoo I got was a memorial tattoo for my dog that passed, and the artist did a constant application of a vasaline-like gel (it did not numb the area), and then would use a damp paper towel to wipe off the area after some tattooing and the rub down felt AMAZING. my leg would shake, and they kept saying sorry, and I said it felt awesome, and to not feel bad.
