crying releases cortisol. and I've lost my kitty (in my mind) once a day since I got him so I feel you and I'm a 43 grown autistic adult.

I think of the day he will leave literally EVERY SINGLE DAY and my heart breaks every time. He's 6 and perfectly fine. I feel you 💕

Whenever I start having emotional breakdowns about pre-grieving my baby, I let myself feel it but I also know I’m gonna get my period the next day because when else is my brain so incredibly mean to me making all of my big feelings big sad 😭

crying is one of the most important ways we regulate cortisol, cry it out and don't let anyone shame you for it. crying is part of our rest and digest functions. kids need their guardians to help co-regulate, not be told to stop ❤️

I literally had a dream that my cat was a hologram, and I was so insanely relieved that he'd "live" forever 😭 this is so relatable 💜

I am not diagnosed but I know that feeling as a kid to be told to stop crying, and I always make sure that when my niece and nephew are crying that I pay attention to them the best I can and make them feel seen

I was always called a cry baby as a kid (late dx asd). I now have a “cry baby” child and I tell you what, I will embrace those tears anytime he needs 💛💛 I still cry, all the time lol. Better out than in I reckon

And you're afraid to lose him. I understand. I know the feeling, he's very important for you. I have the same feeling for my pets, even for a singing teddybear that I've had since I was 3 years old. I want to give it to my daughter but it's still broken and I'd love to see it work so my girl can play and sing with the bear like I did.
