My mom is one of the most emotionally unavailable people you’ll meet and I’m very emotionally intelligent. I’m not just claiming that I am every therapist and counselor that I have spoken to have all told me the same thing and I have been with a lot of them, but what’s different about this is that I get very angry angry when I’m realizing that the narcissist is trying to manipulate me, tell me that I’m wrong and just invalidate my feelings in general when it comes to my mother, I am so quick to get so angry at her even when we’re not in an argument, I feel like I have so much resentment towards her and anger just comes out very quickly whenever I try to explain my feelings to her, and whenever I am calm, she purposefully cuts me off, knowing that I don’t like it she purposefully gets me mad. The only way that I can get her to be quiet is to yell and that’s what she wants. She wants me to be angry and take y’all so that she feels the victim in the situation. it’s the most draining thing ever and I don’t know where to put my feelings and how to deal with them. I have so much to say to her and I have said so much to her, but in the end, she tells me that I’m mean, she calls me out of my name and never looks my feelings from my point of view. She makes me feel wrong for how I feel but I know I’m not so that’s why I get angry towards her again I know I’m emotionally intelligent and I am like this with every other person but she takes that and she says to me that I’m gonna go nowhere in life and she manipulates me at the end of every argument, saying that she’s trying to prepare me for the real world. It’s not fair to me because it’s messing up all of my emotions and I don’t know what to do because I’m only 14.

This happened to me until I caught on to the patterns. It’s takes time to realize this sadly. Also depends on age. I was 24 and woke up at 33.

I got confused for a second, but I understood where you were going. I understood him pushing people away was a trauma response. So anytime he felt cornered or got irritated. I would clock it and then give grace for the way he treated me. But I also would stand up for myself saying hey that’s not OK. And obviously if I stood up for myself and I set boundaries of like hey don’t talk to me like that I did get punished. So then after some point in time, I said enough is enough.
