it’s a psychological effect of being in a lower energy environment and being more sensitive/aware of your body and how the alcohol is effecting you. when you’re pregaming for the clurb and musics blasting and ur friends are screaming around you, two drinks isn’t what your brain is focused on. when you’re with your parents having a normal conversation at a relatively full restaurant your brain is far more tuned in to the effects of the alcohol since there are so many less stimuli to focus on

The dude talking about “situational specificity of tolerance” is completely right. I’ve only heard it used with weed tho, but I imagine it’s the same for alc. but yeah any time I smoke outside or in a high energy space, I don’t really feel high. Alone and calm environments get me pretty high tho
