Don’t forget that there have been white Muslims all along, like the Bosnians. I definitely fall a bit into the second category. It’s where I met the people who showed me what being a Muslim really was. It’s not so much about being completely anti-western as it is getting to see the beauty of what’s beyond here. I’m still learning a lot, but it also feels like it was always here waiting for me to realise

The S'worker to salafi pipeline is real but this is such a limited take. Some of us converted 20 years ago simply because we were curious and questioned and read every book in their local library about islam, questioned trusted friends and church or athiest elders seeking clarity. Some of us were searching since as long as we can remember.

Usually the more Salafi leaning Muslim converts weren’t even right winger a lot of the time they just had no agency and were very hedonistic.

Then there are those of us who used to be very liberal and leftist, while also trying to find the truth. Tired of the hedonism and environment where the only rule seemed to be to do what you want and accept everything. We went to church and found either the church where nothing is haram because Jesus already paid the price, or the other end where everyone including other Christians and children are going to hellfire. Yet still no real accountability or real connection with God. It was either total mercy or total damnation. Some of us went through multiple churches and multiple religions. And then we found islam, and finally came home. Perhaps we started off as "progressive" or "liberal" but took an open heart into learning and have found a balance, like a steady mountain. Not for a man, not for Palestine, not for anything else but our own soul longing to find Allah. Alhamdulillah

You forgot to talk about white Muslims who converted to Islam because they think it’s more logical and spiritual, especially more than Christianity.

Absurdly wide brush. What about the majority of conversions simply being faith based, from all ethnicities? Most converts were either presented with Islam by someone or found it on their own, and it made sense to them so they believed. Why does this guy need to limit everyone’s experience to some sort of social response? I’ve personally known many Hispanic converts, and none of them said it was a reaction to colonization. And I’ve known many white converts and most didn’t fall into his political rigid template. Maybe if your life is based on social media youd get that impression, but go talk to converts at masjids and you won’t think that anymore . It’s also not true that people who initially became interested in Islam for marriage are irreligious in the long run, or to suggest that Muslims in Muslim countries are just irreligious. Does he ever leave rhat room , or just sits there being a know it all spinning specious theories
