I do this ALL the time! I pay regular ticket about $1100 months before travel. Then $200 at the gate for an upgrade! NEVER fails! And sometimes depending on who’s at the counter, I get a free upgrade.

Yeah but you’d get economy meal. Business class don’t over cater so even if you do get upgrade at the check in counter or at the gate you’re likely to get economy meal but if you don’t care than that’s fine

It is even more cheaper when you upgrade inside the plane. You call flight attendant and say that you would like to upgrade if there are seats in business. And it WILL be cheaper than at the gate

I travelled with my elderly mum and asked politely if she could be upgraded…told me to pay $$ and I said I can’t afford it. Was handed my tickets turned out both of us were upgraded!!
