Honestly, I just sold my house made great money and now I am downsizing to a two bedroom townhouse. Investing everything. I could buy a house in cash right now. Never ever gonna happen again.

I did the same mistake. Though my mortgage rate is 2.5%, I have spent close to 150 K on maintenance and remodeling which bumped the opportunity cost for not investing in Stock Market really high, as you mentioned too.

The truth is that when people buy homes, they are not maxing out their Roth. However. If they can, that is great and that’s exactly what they should do but the math isn’t there. And they’re passing up millions.

more SE asians need to watch this video. i completely agree. the equity in the house will be beneficial to my grandkids as my kids will already own their own house before we pass away. we cannot downsize as the newer condos with half the size, costs the same as my current house. fortunately my kids did not listen to me and now have sizeable savings.
