Is Nursing NOT a profession? Because the Department of Education says Nursing Isn’t. Yes, you read that right. Under the new federal definition of “professional degree,” nursing — including MSN, NP, DNP, and PhD programs — was removed from the list along with other professions. Here’s what this means for us and for healthcare: 1.	Graduate nursing programs are no longer recognized as professional degrees, unlike medicine, dentistry, or law. 2.	Loan limits for nursing grad students will drop to $20,500/year, with a $100,000 lifetime cap — making advanced nursing education much harder to afford. 3.	Grad PLUS loans are being eliminated, cutting off a major funding source for NPs, CRNAs, nurse educators, and future leaders. 4. This could threaten the entire nursing pipeline — fewer educators, fewer advanced practice nurses, and fewer highly trained clinicians entering the workforce. 5. It may send a message that nursing is “less than,” despite nurses being consistently ranked as the most trusted profession and playing a critical role in patient safety and access to care. Hopeful that this dos not threaten the future of our profession — and to the quality of healthcare in America. ✊ Nurses deserve recognition. Nursing is a profession! If you believe that too, join the thousands speaking up. 👉 Sign the petition from the American Nurses Association , share it to your fellow nurses and help protect the future of nursing. Do you think that nursing is a profession? Drop your thoughts. (Search: ANA Petition – Nursing Professional Status) #nurses #nursinglife #nursesofinstagram #ana #nursingisaprofession
